Artist Statement: Jason Esquivel of J.E Creations
J.E Creations is an online portfolio which displays current and previous artwork from around the Central Valley of California created by local artist Jason Esquivel. This work includes murals at St Agnes Hospital, local businesses and numerous schools throughout the area.

The Fresno native began painting when he was ten years old and describes his art style as portrait, abstract and pop - meaning he's always looking to do something different.
His work can be seen in multiple downtown Fresno restaurants: the walls inside Take 3 are covered with Esquivel's depiction of movie stars including Harrison Ford and Johnny Depp. Kocky's Bar and Grill features a similar mural with musicians, and his art can be seen at Papi's Mexican Grill in Fresno and Madera, and El Mexicanoin Fowler. He recently painted a mural inside the new Taquería Yarelis location in Clovis. The mural pays homage to the Mexican city of Guanajuato.
Jason also created a mural depicting healthcare workers for St. Agnes Hospital, titled “Called to Care”. Esquivel says he painted the mural to honor healthcare workers for their work during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Local school sites showcasing his inspirational designs include Jackson Elementary, Kirk Elementary, Wawona Middle School, Baird Middle School, Tehipite Middle School, Tenaya Middle School, Scandinavian Middle School, Hoover High, Edison High, Sunnyside High, Fresno High and Kepler Neighborhood School in downtown Fresno. Many of these murals represent the themes of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Other works of art have been displayed at Arte Américas and Art Hop, including live paintings.
Esquivel creates designs based on client request. Once a design is approved, he uses a projector to display the image and trace it onto the identified location. The paintings can take a matter of weeks to complete, depending on the size. Some take up a corner of a wall, others stretch down the entire wall of a restaurant or school.
Since 2020 he has been doing his unique After school art enrichment programs and After school mural programs as a vendor for Fresno Unified school district. His staff and himself have been well known artists in the community and we have been teaching and instructing students in art development and art exploration. The students learn various methods from the 4 of his staff in which all have special artistic abilities in various fields that include book illustration, print making, painting and designing and painting using various mediums.
